Today I read the post Google Maps Tracking Fires. This post talks about how Google Maps show where fires are in California. This isn't just a step forward for California, but for the World. This shows how we have been progressing in saving lives. This could be the first of many steps that can help us save lives.

Using Google Maps to alert people about fires is important. This will let people know what is going on and how they can prevent a tragedy can happen. The bigger picture is, it that we are discovering new ways to save people lives. What can be better than that? Even though this has only happened in California, it will begin to spread to other states and will save even more people.

It is tools like these that we are in need of. We can expand even more and eventually we will. Saving people and even land is especially important. Knowing where and when a fire is happening will alert people to stay away and stay safe. Using Google Maps will get it across the state in a matter of seconds. We are beginning to develop useful tools that can help us out so much and eventually we can create even more.

Today i read Scott, Double Amputee. This was a very inspiring post for me personally. This post was about a man named Scott Rigsby. He has prosthetic legs and he still found the strength and courage to complete an iron man. This was simply incredible, this man trained and completed an iron man in 16.42 minutes when the maximum time to complete it was 17 minutes. The most amazing thing was that he didn't do it for himself, he did it to change the world.

a wounded veteran approached Rigsby after a practice swim and told him, "You have got to finish this race because you can change the world...

Scott Rigsby had done an iron man once before and failed. This shows how much determination this man has. He did not just give up and move on to somethings new, he got right back up and pushed himself to prepare and finish this race. If only all of us could have that kind of determination. Having prosthetics legs didn't hold Scott back, somebody with that kind of injury would usually make us think that he could not doing something as astonishing as this, but he proved everyone wrong.

The world should and probably will look up to Scott Rigsby. He shows us that we can do so much more than we think we can. With determination and strength we can do anything we set out to do. We can change the world, just as Scott has done. Even the littlest things make a difference. Their are so many people with disabilities that think they cannot do what they want to, but hearing about what this man has done is exactly the kind of inspiration they need to chase there dreams.

Today I read an article about Filtering. This post talks about how filtering is holding schools back and is going to far. Filtering should not be allowed in schools because they have begun to block sites that could benefit our education. There should be a limit to what we can access at school, but that is why we have rules.

A recent experience of mine shows that filtering school computers is not beneficial. Last week in my history class, we were studying the war and my teacher was trying to get a music video by metallica that she thought showed a little bit about what the war was like. She was trying to show us the video in class but the computer wouldn't allow us to access you tube. This shows how you tube can teach us something, but on our computers it's blocked.

Filtering should not be so censored in schools. Sites like you tube should not be blocked. There are several videos on that site that provide good information. Their should be supervision when a student is on the computer, but sites should not be blocked. Filtering the computer in not needed and students should be trusted to not go on sites that they are not allowed to.

Recently I read the post Give One, Get One by Will Richardson. This was a really important post for me because it is so important to help out the countries that are not as fortunate as us. This post talks about how everytime you buy a laptop for 399 dollars, they give a laptop to a child in a developinig nation. There are so many children in the world who have nothing compared to us, and if we stopped for a minute and did simple things like this, we would be well on our way to helping out other nations.

Buying a laptop to support this program can help out so much. Buying a laptop doesn't just support the child in another nation, but it also gives your own child the opprotunity to expand there learning. Helping out nations that are struggling can be so much easier than people think. Even though it's just one laptop, it can provide learning and opprotunity for so many children who do not have the money to buy their own. If even a hundred people supported this cause, it could help out so much. We need to realize that some nations are struggling and they need our help.

Helping out can be so easy. There are several other programs beside this one that also help out other nations. If you don't need or want a laptop, their are so many other ways to help. We need to help other nations develope in technology and other ways. Many nations are lacking in food, clothing, and even shelter. Donating even small amount of money can provide a better future for these nations.

Recently I read http://coolcatteacher.blogspot.com/2007/09/is-text-only-enough-for-todays-students.html. This feed talks about how writing may not be enought. The most common way of communicating is through writing but how are we supposed to expand if we don't try new things?

Different people learn in different ways. The most common type of learning I hear about today is visual learning. I think I learn the best this way, as well as several other people. I get bored with to much writing or typing and usually don't get into it. I focus much better with visual learning and communicating thigs through words.

Text is probably the most boring ways to learn things. Learning things in an enviroment of people with everybody participating and getting other peoples opinions can help get the attention of others and also embed it in their brains.

I think that we need to expand our horizons and try new teaching methods. More communication through others can open new doors and new learning techniques for everyone.
