PLN 25

Today I read Why are Kids Failing, this post talks about a teacher that has done everything to try and help her students but they still do not cooperate. Mrs. Davis, a 9th grade teacher has lowered the standards for her 9th grade class. She is doing her best to try to get her students to succeed and realize the importance of grades, but they still continue to slack and let her down.

Failing is a difficult thing to do. As long as we do our homework and do our best most likely we will have a acceptable grade. Mrs. Davis has done multiple things to merely try to get her students to do there homework but it its not successful, she asks the question why are kids failing?

Being freshman, some kids don't realize how important our grades our. Some kids believe that its just the beginning of high school and we can do whatever we please and grades aren't an issue. This is completely untrue, grades in high school, all four years determine our future. I believe that this may be why there has been so many difficulties in her class. I also think that teenagers do not have the determination to work on their grades and succeed. It has gotten so bad that she had to lower the standards a lot and they still won't do what they are supposed to. All they have to do is do there homework, if they do bad, they can redo it until they get 100%, how hard is that? I do not have the opportunity to do anything like that, a lot of kids don't and these kids are taking advantage of it.

We all get what we deserve, and the teenagers that refuse to try to succeed in school will realize they messed up. No teacher likes to see there students fail, but there's only so much the teacher can do. Its on the students shoulders to decide to do there work or not and if they don't, they will regret it. Mrs Davis' tactics are good, and the students need to work on their attitude toward grades and spend more time working on school work.
