PLN 26

Today I read, It Take a Whole Village [or High School] by Karl Fisch. This was a very inspiring event that took place at Heritage High School. This goes to show how much a community of people can achieve by determination. Even though Heritage is our biggest rival, it is times like these that make a realize what an amazing school they are.

On April 16-20 2007, Heritage High School accomplished something that helped the World. On that week, 1,637 students gave 14, 014.43 dollars this raised 102, 50k bags of rice for starving people in Sierra Leon. One student traveled to Sierra Leon to help distribute the rice and learn about the people living there, it was said that the screams and cheers when the food arrived was unbelievable. This is simply amazing that Heritage was able to come together and help out a struggling nation. Why can't all of the high schools do this?

At Arapahoe High School we have been helping out less fortunate people as well. Toys for Tots is the most recent activity to help people that are far less fortunate than us. Arapahoe exceeded the goal of giving 1000 presents to children kindergarten - 5th grade. Raising about 1900 presents is something that our school can be proud of. This is an incredible accomplishment and is helping kids who may not get anything on Christmas except that. ALL schools should have fundraising for people who are struggling. Helping others out is a great feeling and if all schools had fundraisers and came together we can help the world little by little and start to make a huge difference.

Alena,
You made really good points in your presentation. Try and rely less on your note cards, and make more eye contact. However, you did really well on keeping your power point slides short and sweet. You sounded very confident and rehearsed.I can tell you put a lot of time into your presentation. Excellent job!

Good job but you seemed unprepared because you looked at your notes almost the whole time.
